If you’re in the market for a flat-top grill, you’re probably wondering which one is the best. In this article, we’ll be sharing our findings from testing some of the most popular flat-top griddles on the market. We’ll cover everything from price to performance so that you can make an informed decision before making your purchase. So, without further ado, let’s get started!
- Heat Distribution – Look for uniform heat distribution throughout the cooking surface of your flat-top grill. This ensures that all of your food will cook evenly and that it won’t burn in some spots and be underdone in others.
- Ease of Cleaning – The best flat-top grills have removable, nonstick grates that can be easily cleaned after each use. This will help ensure you get many years of use from your flat-top grill.
- Temperature Control – Temperature control is key when it comes to outdoor flat-top grilling. Digital temperature gauges make this easier than ever, and electric ignition systems let you fire up the grill quickly and accurately.
- Size – Make sure the size of your outdoor flat-top grill meets your needs. If it’s too big, you may end up wasting energy heating a large area; if it’s too small, you won’t be able to cook enough food at once. Consider how many people you usually cook for, as well as any other requirements such as portability or storage space needed.

Hey guys, we’re performing our expert overview on the Blackstone 1866 griddle station with hardcover. This is their 36-inch four-burner grill and it’s got everything you need for the perfect grill in your house.
The first thing you should do before buying a grill is to measure the materials used. Let’s inspect the quality. The firebox of our grill is made from heavy-duty 19 gauge cold rolled steel. The front control panel accompanies a high-quality 16g material and measures in at one point before being applied to ensure durability for long-term use. Seven gauge thickness ensures that the overall structure will stand up against wear & tear, meaning you can enjoy your meal or family time without worrying about it getting ruined by small accidents.
The four food-style burners are constructed of seven-millimeter thick 400 series stainless steel and the included removable hardtop lid came in as 18 gauge cold rolled steel.
So how did this griddle do in terms of temperature testing?
The preheat takes 15 minutes, but don’t worry – after this time you’ll be able to see your waffles baking beautifully on the griddle! The average overall temperature at 450°F means that they will only need about 20 more for perfection. With all burners set to low, we got an overall griddle average temperature of 336 degrees Fahrenheit. This is a testament not only to its versatility but also to how well-designed it was with these settings in mind.
The measuring side with its temperature furthest from the overall average was in the front right corner and it measured 76 degrees below what we would expect on an outdoor griddle. This is pretty good.
The griddle’s low-temperature capabilities are rather impressive. You can actually go lower than our 336 degrees Fahrenheit range if you wanted, though I’m not sure what benefits this would offer as it is simply a matter of turning one or two burners on your stovetop.
We all know that when it comes to cooking on the griddle, you can’t beat a good sear. That’s why we set our high-temperature test up with all four burners burning hard for 30 minutes and then measured how hot each surface of this grill got. The high-temperature test indicated a griddle’s overall average temperature of 466 degrees Fahrenheit. The back right corner of our test location was approximately 95 degrees off from the overall average. This shouldn’t cause any major problems, but we’ll see how it affects us during physical testing soon.
We know that different people have varying needs when it comes to grilling. This is just one example of what you can expect while using multiple zones on the griddle.
To test the difference in heat output between each griddle zone, I measured while setting four burners from left to right.
To test the difference in heat output between each griddle zone, I measured while setting four burners from left to right. To get an accurate comparison of how well they work together as a unit and not just individually like some people might think about when looking at their own setup or cooking methods for example. One would start with burner 1 on a high position, 2 on a low setting, and 3 on a high position too. The far-right burner number 4 was left completely off. The temperature difference between zone one and two was an incredible 83 degrees Fahrenheit, or about 18%. Between zones two and three, a difference is 100 degrees Fahrenheit or about 26% separates them. The temperature difference between zone three and four was about 30% or 86 degrees Fahrenheit. The way this zone differentiation came out was really impressive.
We wanted to see how all of these measures would translate in our real-world testing, so we started with a burger test by filling up the griddle and seeing what this bad boy could do. With 24 patties on the grill, it was time for some serious eatin’.
With such a large surface area and excellent heat retention, this is where the thick griddle plate really came into its own. The 24 cold patties hit all at once would have taken longer to bounce back if there wasn’t any insulation offered by these sturdy pans that we know so well about today – giving us seared hamburgers instead.
With the help of our professional testing team, we were able to see that even though some locations on this particular grill performed less than average temperatures during their time in contact with heat sources – like front and back right side corners – it wasn’t very noticeable.
We wanted to see how these measures would work out, so we put a Blackstone griddle to the test with a nice breakfast spread. Because of the different temperature zones, we were able to prepare a variety for breakfast: eggs and pancakes at medium-low heat; hash Browns in one pan over high while cooking bacon or sausage another time.
Even with all of these delicious-looking options, we were able to eat everything on our plates. The breakfast spread disappeared in about five minutes and temperature testing showed no signs that it would be too hot for human consumption.
I found a new love in bourbon barrel maple syrup and now we’re trying out some savory dishes.
We put our bell peppers on the far left with two nice steaks next to them, but there’s still more of that griddle space for all your favorite foods: grilled cheese. The Blackstone 36-inch electric frying pan did not disappoint as it cooked up Some delicious steak sandwiches while also caramelizing those tasty veggies right before your eyes – could this be what they call “easy cooking?”
The outside of our grilled cheese sandwich has a dark golden brown color with a warm gooey center. Overall, I was very pleased by how well this Blackstone griddle worked in making the perfect meal for us.

Well, hello there! It’s so great to finally be here on my YouTube channel and welcome you all in person. I’m Matt from Groark Boys’ BBQ – thanks for joining me today at Medford Lakes!
It sounds like we’ll have some really great weather today which makes me feel very lucky – but also hungry…I think dinner might need some barbeque sauce soon.
Today we’re taking a look at the Cuisinart CGG-888 Griddle
This is not a large, but versatile cooking surface that can be used in outdoor settings making it perfect for any occasion.
Unlike most griddles, this one’s round. Let me show you how it works!
So while we walk through this review, it’s not boring. You sitting here just listening to me talk about grills. So I’m going to cook some smash burgers on our new BBQ grill while we do the rest of these steps together.
Not only am I going to give you my review of the griddle and how it’s worked out so far, but also some tips on making burgers in due time. For now, though let’s get right into what makes this product such a great addition to any kitchen.
The size and shape of this griddle make it perfect for cooking anything you want, any way that suits your preference. The first few things about the 360 XL by Cuisinart are its large surface area which allows even those without much culinary skill easy visibility while using it.
We need a drip tray that travels around the entire griddle. We’re going to be making some serious burgers, but don’t worry – our stainless steel design means no drops and stains from grease.
The grill also comes with a lid that’s vented. You can bake roast and smoke, too.
You know, I’ve been really pleased with the performance of this griddle. It’s made a lot easier than using an outdoor cooking stove or fire pit! And you can even get some good food out on it too.
I had a few cooks on this thing that I just loaded up. This is no easy task, but with hard work and determination, anything can be accomplished.
Personally, I enjoy the first thing that you’ll notice about this cooktop is its strength and durability. It’s rolled steel which means it takes more time to get seasoned but in return lasts longer than other materials like aluminum or glass would do – perfect for someone who likes saving money on their expenses.
The one big difference in other grids that I’ve used is how much protection and coverings they provide for your griddle. Regardless of whether you protect it or not, there will still be some rust if gone a week without using the BBQ surface.
The beautiful, high-quality material of this cooktop makes me feel like the first day I used it. And after doing about a dozen or so cooks on my new griddle safe slow cooker inserts with grates (which by the way has been otaku approved), there are no stains left behind.
I’m going to improve it today with some waggy beef for these smash burgers. So like I said, we are making them here – don’t mind me. It’s about 303 degrees here.
Maybe it’s time to get some onions going. Let me start at the beginning here and we’ll go from there.
The grill assembly is quite simple, but you will need an hour and 20 minutes for one person to build it. The instructions should tell how long two people take if they are helping each other through this process; I managed my own building time without any problems in just over 1:30 hours.
I am so glad that my construction skills were put to use with this project. The building process went smoothly and without any hiccups, which is especially impressive considering the complexity of some aspects of these vehicles.
For me, the best part about this grill was its 20-pound propane tank.
This three-burner griddle has a lot going for it. One, you can adjust the heat zones so that one side is lower than the other sides and vice versa; two – if need be – I will move food off to the side rather than cooking everything at once on my high setting which could result in undercooked parts or raw pieces somewhere within your dish because there’s no room left over after making adjustments with this types of appliances.
I’m going to bring the onions over here so they brown up nicely for our smash burgers.
The lid of this grill is what sets it apart. Not only can you use your smoker box to roast or steam food, but there’s also an important vent that changes how the grill works for many other meals as well. Ribs will be delicious on a smoking hot firebox with all those doors sealed tight.
The heat is building on this thing already, and it’s only just begun. These onions are so close to where I want them.
The accessories that I got from Queens and art are perfect for any occasion.
We’re getting on top of some beef. It’s easy, and this is an excellent spot because you have plenty of space to work here. We’ll just throw in a little seasoning — and let that do its thing while we watch over it closely from start to finish.
Let’s take a look at our onions. They’re still going, and we want to set them aside for just one minute. Now, also with Cinar, I bought the smash bird package, cause I make them so much.
Smashing your burger is so much easier when you have the right tools. You get a cast iron smash burger, and then another piece of wax paper to clean up any messes made while eating or enjoying this delicious food. Not only will it help you smash those patties, but also prevent sticking.
Let’s go ahead and pop that there. We are smashing it perfectly. And we’re done with this part for now, too.
What really sets this cooktop apart from other griddles I’ve used is how heavy and sturdy it feels. The other thing that stood out for me was the quality of crusts on food cooked with this unit – they weren’t anywhere near as good, if at all comparable to others.
The one thing I like about this griddle is that it’s easy to maintain. After every cook, all you have to do is wipe off, and viola. You’re good for another go-round with delicious food.
As those are cooking, let’s take a look at some features
First off I showed you the lid – it has steam smoke which is awesome for seeing what your food looks like when it’s done without having to open up that whole smoker. If there was something wrong with my steak and wanted him cooked just a little bit more? Just pop this on and it becomes super sweet.
Yes, this three-burner has all the features you need. There’s a propane tank under here for a quick and easy start-up as well storage room to keep things organized along with your hook! No more running around trying not only to find where it is but also struggling over which end goes towards what kind of fuel source or oven – now they’re both right at hand thanks to our handy dandy grill.
One of the best features of this grill is that it has a 360-degree drip tray
This helps to catch anything coming off your griddle and prevents any grease from landing on surfaces below, which can be ruining for patio or decking material.
We’re back to talk about that cooktop. It’s just so much fun cooking on it.
The riddle top on this XL 360 is adding an extra layer of texture to these Smash Burgers. You can see how it creates that crunchy, tasty bottom crust with its unique design that gives every bite just what you want in your favorite burger style.
I’m not sure if you noticed the crispiness of that burger flip.
Let’s talk about the cheese and making sure it melts a lot of times on griddles. Do you see that dome-like thingy? Yeah, you need to put this over your individual burger so no worries there. With the dome cover, you can cook up to four burgers at once. This is perfect for those who like cooking for large groups of people or just enjoy eating out often.
This grill has a huge advantage because you don’t need to use your separate tins for covering the fire. All that’s left are two handles on top, which makes it easy and convenient when cooking food in large quantities. You can even melt cheese right onto this lid if desired – just wait until everything is cool enough before taking these off ourselves.
With that lid on, we have it vented. You know the cheese is gonna melt!
A little side note: don’t forget your handle and cushions with this one-of-a-kind masterpiece by yours truly.
The grease from my old griddle is running down the side of this one, but at least it doesn’t seem as though any stains have been left behind.
The dome and lid of the box guarantee I’ll be able to melt any type or style of cheese with ease.
We take our buns and we steam ’em. Once they are cooked through, I like to add some butter for that extra bit of flavor before putting on top of the burger patty.
The cheese continues to melt, really combine it with the bun and those onions. And we’re good. These burgers are done easily – assemble them now so that your hungry customers can enjoy a delicious meal cooked just right for them.
The grill is going to be the topic of conversation for everyone in your neighborhood
I’m telling you, they all want one. The price point makes this an attractive purchase and there’s nothing that can beat it when compared with other grills on today’s market.
You can take these buns inside. We need to bun them up before the family eats. It would be great if they were nice and toasty on top for our dinner tonight.
This three-burner griddle has everything you need to make breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It’s competitively priced and comparable with other models on the market. The size is unparalleled in regards to space-which means there will never be any more trouble when cooking for your family because this thing can do it all at once.
When I cook on my grill, the top gets dirty and greasy
Scraping off burnt bits is a regular task for me but it doesn’t have to be. If you’re looking at cleaning up after your meal too then these tips will help make things easier – just remember that if there’s grease coming out of one side or corner because heath cholesterol was fried in this machine first before being put onto food items.
Man, these burgers are amazing! I can’t believe how great they turned out with the help of your new griddle. You won’t regret buying this thing for sure — it’s a win-win situation all around: the price point is right and you get to enjoy some delicious food.

Blackstone 36: Why is the cooking surface black?
When I bought my new Blackstone griddle, the first thing that surprised me was how black its surface is. Unlike other brands with stainless steel or aluminum components which leave behind brightly shining surfaces after use, this one has a matte finish because it’s made of cast-iron material! The difference in temperature across these different types can be seen especially when cooking pancakes where you want an even bottom side up for everyone who eats them (not just yourself). And cleanup? Well let’s say there won’t need any scrubbing needed at all – unless maybe someone spills their coffee on top haha
What size is the gas outlet 1/4″ or 3/8″, coming from the propane tank to the Blackstone 36 griddle station?
I’m used to dealing with stainless steel, but it sure looks like a 1/4″ hp- high-pressure hose, to me.
Blackstone 1517 grill: Will the surface temp get up to a 500° steak searing temp?
The 2 burners in the H configuration will get to 500 degrees, especially if you put a wind guard around the sides and back of the griddle. They not only block the wind but they keep heat from escaping around the sides.
Would Cuisinart CGG-888 grill well to fry fish using a cast iron pan?
I think so. The bigger 360-degree pan is perfect for all my favorite dishes, like chicken fried steak and eggs! I put the cast iron on top of an already preheated medium heat with lid closed first; then when it’s nice and hot (but not burning) remove one Abyssinian from its box before adding veggies inside along side some sauce made by mixing mayo with ketchup or BBQ style spices if desired.”
How many-gallon propane tanks does this hold in Cuisinart CGG-888 grill?
The standard 20-gallon tank. I love this griddle by the way. It took me a few times to get the hang of cleaning it.
